The following review written by one of the Software Informer contributors applies to version 6.2
Advanced Word to Pdf Converter transforms your MS Word documents into PDF files. It allows batch conversion of any DOC, DOCX, DOCM, RTF, and TXT file into PDF, following the original layout of the Word document. The program also includes a limited number of settings to let you define the PDF page and the final appearance of the document.
One of the assets of this tool is its flexibility regarding the file selection and batch conversion processes. If necessary, the list of input files can be saved for further use, so that you do not need to perform the same selection process more than once. Within these lists, you can make partial selections of files, so that you can perform different types of conversions based on specific settings without changing lists.
The converter produces two types of PDF documents – the so-called default format and an image-based PDF file. The former will allow you to perform searches within the textual elements of the document, and will let text-to-speech programs read the document aloud to those who cannot see it. The latter will create an image of every page of the original document. In both cases, pages can be stored individually in different PDF files if needed.
The free trial version converts only a small fragment of an original document - usually less than a full page - so it is not easy to evaluate the level of quality of the layout conversion. Both the image-based and the standard PDF conversions seem to accurately reproduce the original location of text blocks and images in the output file, but the usability of some textual elements (such as hyperlinks, URLs, etc.) is nearly impossible to check. |
